AboutDr.(Mrs) Ramesh Sarin is a Senior Consultant in Surgical
Oncology at
Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. She specializes in breast cancer and breast diseases. Dr (Mrs) Sarin did her MBBS and MS in General Surgery from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi in 1962 & 1996 respectivley. She worked in UK for 6 years and obtained her FRCS (Edin) degree in 1972. With a burning desire to serve her own country she returned back in 1975 and joined as an Assistant Professor at her Alma Mater, AIIMS. Even while working at AIIMS she was awarded Special Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the prestigious cancer centre - The Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Centre, New York for one year, which not only helped her in refining surgical techniques but changed her outlook and perspective to treating cancer patients as a whole. At AIIMS Dr Sarin was later promoted as Associated Professor with attachment to the Rotary Cancer Centre the cancer centre of the AIIMS.
She has the unique distinction of having started the first ever Breast Cancer Clinic at AIIMS. This clinic as its name suggests was exclusively devoted to breast cancer, and set a design for similar clinics elsewhere for comprehensive care of breast cancer. In 1986 the government of United Arab Emirates invited her to set up a cancer centre. She organized the complete cancer centre there including radiation, medical and surgical services. She spent ten fruitful years in Abu Dhabi, providing the region with their own comprehensive and leading cancer centre. Dr Ramesh Sarin joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in 1996 and has dedicated her services to patients with Breast Diseases in particular Breast Cancer. She offers the latest surgical treatment for breast cancer including conservative breast surgery, sentinel node biopsy and all kinds of breast reconstructive surgeries.

Awards and Achievements1. Invited to visit the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, as a visiting investigator and Special Fellow in Surgery for August 1979 to August 1980.
2. Visited center for Medical Education, University of Dundee in Scotland, in September 1981, under the sponsorship of the Government of U.K.
3. Visiting Professor in Surgery at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.
4. Visiting Lecturer on Oestrogen Receptors in Breast by Banaras University.
5. Participated in the symposium on Hormones and Cancer by Associated of Physicians of India.
6. Delivered keynotes address in Surgical Teachers Convention at Kanpur, under the auspices of the University and National Academy of Medical Sciences, in March 1982.
7. Guest Speaker on Teaching Methods in Life Sciences organized by the University in Andhra Pradesh, India.
8. Organised symposium on Recent Trends in Surgery for continuing medical education for post graduate training.
