AboutDr Nundy is currently an Emeritus Consultant in the department of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He is the Dean of the Ganga Ram Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research.
Before he turned 75, he was the Head of Department, Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation. He started the DNB program in Surgical Gastroenterology, the first in the country and still one of the most sought after.
Before moving to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Dr Nundy was Head, Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, All India Institute of Medical Sciences. This is department set up by him and is the most sought after M Ch program in Gastrointestinal Surgery. The department also had a PhD program before the M Ch started.
He studied medicine at Cambridge University and Guy's Hospital, London. He did his Surgery residency at Hammersmith Hospital followed by further training at Addenbrooke's Hospital and Massachussetts General Hospital, Boston.
He taught at Cambridge University, London University and Harvard University before returning to India and joining AIIMS in 1975.
He is the founding editor of the National Medical Journal of India and Tropical Gastroenterology. He is editor in chief of Current Medical Research and practice.
He has mentored most of the leading Liver Transplant Surgeons and many of the leading Gastrointestinal Surgeons in India.
He is also one of the most honest doctors I know.
